Artefact Aid e.V. is a non-profit initiative of the film and media industry that bundles the reach of actors in order to generate the largest possible donations through public auctions of "film artifacts".

Who are the actors?
The actors, called Aid-Companions, are usually well-known filmmakers who donate a particular film artifact that is related to them or a role / film associated with them. The artifact is donated to Artefact Aid or sold at a nominal value to raise as much money as possible at public auction to be donated to charity. However, artifacts can also be made available by production companies, film funds or associations.

What are possible artifacts?
The neon sign "Zum goldenen Handschuh" from Fatih Akin's film of the same name was the first artifact to be auctioned in 2025. Almost all artifacts that tell an exciting cinematic story and are of particular interest to a broad target audience are conceivable, so that they achieve the highest possible donation value. All artifacts have a special, iconic meaning and uniqueness in common.

What does Artefact Aid do?
Artefact Aid, the association members and other supporters use their network to inspire as many Aid Companions in the German film and media industry as possible for the charitable cause and to create the largest possible Artefact Aid community.
Artefact Aid will organize, plan and run the auction free of charge and forward the proceeds as donations.

Who decides which cause to donate to?
The Aid Companions can decide for which purpose the proceeds of their artifact should be donated. The only requirement is that the donation goal is in line with the charitable purposes of Artefact Aid and that the beneficiary organization can prove its seriousness and reliability (e.g. via the DZI donation seal of the "German Central Institute for Social Issues").

How are the artifacts auctioned?
The artifacts are auctioned off in a public online auction via "ebay-charity" at the highest possible price. This ensures that the largest possible target group can take part in the auctions.

Who can take part in the auction?
The aim is to enable the general public to participate in the film and media industry and its famous faces. Anyone with an ebay account can bid for an artifact from a prominent Companion.

How and in what amount will the donation be forwarded?
The proceeds received will be forwarded by Artefact Aid to the organization selected by the Companion without any deductions. The organization's expenses are not reimbursed. Any costs incurred by the organization are currently financed from its own funds.

Are there donation receipts?
Unfortunately, Artefact Aid is not allowed to issue donation receipts for the auction proceeds for tax reasons. However, it is important that 100% of the auction proceeds are donated. However, as a non-profit organization, Artefact Aid can accept donations and issue corresponding receipts. This is also possible for donated artifacts.
