Since 2003, the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises has been organizing a series of inspiring events for female entrepreneurs and women who want to become one.

To accompany the Berlin Women Entrepreneurs' Day, the Berlin Women Entrepreneurs' Competition was held for the first time in 2004. Since then, the award has honored committed female entrepreneurs in Berlin whose outstanding achievements have helped to successfully shape the economic region of Berlin and who act as role models for women on the path to self-employment.
