The Centro Sociale is an autonomous neighbourhood meeting place that was founded in 2008/2009 by many local residents in order to create a counterpoint to the increasing commercialization of the neighbourhood (see history of the Centro). All those who use the rooms to celebrate, discuss, do handicrafts, play theater or whatever else - they are the Centro. Some are here every week, others come only occasionally, some are very involved, others less so. They all do what fits in with the rest of their lives. As long as there are at least a handful of people who can look after the Centro on a regular, voluntary basis, it will continue. Anyone who wants to get involved or do more than before is very welcome!
