Join in the grape harvest in Albig: make wine like in the old days, celebrate like today

Albig, Rhineland-Palatinate - September 2025 - Early out into the vineyards. Morning dew. Sunrise. Hands in the green. Working together: harvesting organic grapes, enjoying an epic breakfast buffet right among the vines. Then pressing like a hundred years ago - and finally eating like family and celebrating like friends. This is exactly how the grape harvest works at DOPE. Culture & Wine in Albig.

From August 30, the small winery will open its doors every Saturday to anyone who wants to experience the fascination of artisan winemaking up close. Participation is free and open to all age groups - families with children are also welcome. Places are limited, so registration is required:

A day in the vineyard - here's how it works:

• 07:00 am: Meeting point at the winery, departure to the vineyard
• Hand-picking in the middle of the organic vines - snacking allowed
• Breakfast in the sunrise - savory & sweet, with wine from our own grapes
• Return to the farm and pressing with a historic basket press - just like a hundred years ago
• Homemade soul food lunch in the courtyard
• Reading party with music and wine at the end

Why take part?

For anyone who wants to get their hands dirty - and fill their heart and glass in the process. "Our grape harvest is a meeting place - for people from the village, from the cities and from all over the world. Together we experience how grapes become wine - just like in the old days, only more colorful," says winemaker José Fleck.
