The Wichernhaus is the Protestant youth center in Essen-Holsterhausen and warmly invites anyone interested to come and learn about the facility and its wide range of programs. For over 60 years, the center has been dedicated to open children’s and youth programs and serves young people ages 6 to 27 from the parish, the neighborhood, and beyond. Spanning four floors, the Wichernhaus offers numerous opportunities for leisure activities: These include a youth café with pool and table tennis, comfortable sofas for relaxing and socializing, free Wi-Fi, and a video game console. In addition, plenty of play equipment is available for the large outdoor area, ensuring that sports and physical activity—such as basketball or other activities—are not neglected. The Wichernhaus is open Monday through Friday and offers various group activities in addition to its open drop-in sessions. These include, among other things, group cooking sessions in cooperation with the Apostel Youth Center, confirmation classes, a gardening group, a school club in cooperation with the Holsterhausen Comprehensive School, a creative group, a cooking group, a chess group, and regular Scout meetings. Visitors are supported by two full-time staff members and a dedicated team of volunteers. The team looks forward to your visit!
