The exhibition sheds light on the conflicting nature of an era that was characterized by the social crises and upheavals of its time. In a joint presentation of art and film, the exhibition shows how deeply the early German film of the 1920s and the Weimar Republic was imbued with the expressionist spirit - not only in terms of form, but also in terms of content. Film allowed expressionism to unfold in a completely new way on the big screen. Along central themes such as departure
and rupture, dream and trauma as well as form and deformation, the artistic issues are juxtaposed.

As part of the exhibition, there are collaborations with arthouse cinemas in the region, including the Luchskino and Puschkino in Halle, as well as the Schaubühne Lindenfels and the Passagekino in Leipzig.
