The biennial festival tanz nrw presents diverse choreographic positions from NRW and reflects the diversity of the regional dance scene on several levels: it invites artistic works from the fields of dance/performance/choreography and covers the genres of contemporary and urban dance art, performance and contemporary circus as well as intergenerational and inclusive works - from up-and-coming artists to experienced choreographers. What all forms of dance have in common is the "contemporary" approach in the sense of the political, social and aesthetic relevance of the artistic exploration. An important concern of the festival is the resource-conserving use of production resources and the continuous work on improving the accessibility of the festival program.

The festival creates cross-connections - between cities, formats and discourses. The resulting spaces become places of exchange and mediation - between the artists, the organizers and the audience.
