The Münster Film Festival is an event organized by the Filmwerkstatt Münster. It takes place every two years - in the fall of odd-numbered years. Since its beginnings in the early 1980s, the former "Filmzwerge" has grown into a multi-faceted festival that offers a platform in particular for up-and-coming filmmakers and emerging talents - from the region, from Germany and from all over Europe.

Brand new feature-length films and short films that have not yet been shown in Münster are screened in several competitions. There is a country focus that is unique in Germany with films from the Netherlands, numerous film talks and discussion panels, genre classics in late screenings and networking days for students and those involved in film education.
