IG FORTUNA | Kino der Jugend, an association of civic associations, cultural workers and neighbors in the east of Leipzig, wants to establish a participation-oriented cultural venue in the east of Leipzig on the site of the former "Kino der Jugend" at Eisenbahnstraße 162. Over the past seven years, not only has the demolition of the building been prevented, but initial repairs have been made to the roof (emergency securing) and the interior has been cleared. Various activities such as open-air cinema, information events and a project on active urban culture have been carried out. In addition, the members of the IG meet regularly at the round table to work on the concept and plan joint activities to bring the former cinema back into the consciousness of urban society.
