About the gallery
giraffentoast was founded in 2000 in a small rented apartment, crammed with video mixers, VHS recorders and videotapes, in order to turn VJing into a profession. This developed into a successful design and motion graphics agency with offices in Hamburg and Berlin.
We never forgot the unconventional and experimental roots from the early days. That's why, after various exhibitions with projects initiated by giraffentoast, the giraffentoast Gallery has existed since 2022.
Together with curator Malte Muthesius, we show art 4-5 times a year. The aim is to give artists a central location in the Schanze, today and in the future, so that they can be seen by the public.
Heart and soul and passion are valued more highly than academic approaches or CVs.
As part of the exhibitions, paintings are sold directly in the giraffentoast Gallery for a limited period of time: The proceeds are split between the artists, the gallery and a donation to selected projects.
