For some years now, the Free State of Saxony and the Smart City model city of Dresden have been regarded as important locations for the global semiconductor and software industry. In addition to large corporations such as Infineon or TSMC, numerous leading medium-sized companies, renowned research institutes, e.g. in the field of robotics and AI, and the TU Dresden, one of the few German universities of excellence, can be found here.

HELLERAU, planned over 100 years ago as a creative and experimental place for an artistic avant-garde, is using the international HYBRID Biennale festival to shed light on how these impressive and internationally significant scientific and technological skills, potentials and topics are reflected in innovative and artistic institutions and projects in the midst of exceptionally critical phases of global and digital transformation.

This year's edition of the HYBRID Biennale not only addresses current topics of global transformation processes and technical innovations, but also consistently develops programmatic orientations in HELLERAU and presents models for artistic concepts of the present and future. The festival offers spectacular concerts with conducting robots(ROBOTERSINFONIE 12. & 13.10.), impressive installations of subwoofers(B.A.S. 18. & 19.10.) or light-space concepts(SHIRO 25.10.). A computer game in a lounge promises special immersive impressions(Morphogenic Angels 18. & 19.10., 25. & 26.10.), and the performances with exclusively virtual actors(NEW ILLUSION 18. & 19.10.) or a robot dog(SPOTSHOTBEUYS 26.20.) are also extraordinary. In addition, keynotes and a symposium with numerous lectures, workshops and discussions will address the transformation of artistic, architectural and cultural spaces and processes in the digital age and inspire new questions and perspectives.
