Impakt e.V. (Improvisation & Contemporary Music Cologne) is a collective of young musicians from Cologne whose common ground is free improvised music. Music that arises from the stylistic and tonal diversity of today; music that is reflected in a spontaneous and constructive interaction with each other.

In 2013, a group of 10 younger-generation improvisers from Cologne, who repeatedly came together in various constellations in different bands at the Cologne Loft and elsewhere, decided to pool their energies and improve the visibility of improvised music in Cologne. This resulted in an open newsletter and online calendar, which to this day collects monthly concert dates in the field of improvised and contemporary music in Cologne.

Impakt officially saw the light of day in 2014 with a kick-off festival in Cologne's Stadtgarten. Impakt organizes concert series and festivals in the Loft, Stadtgarten, King Georg and Ebertplatzpassage, making a significant contribution to the diversity of Cologne's cultural landscape.

2016 saw the launch of Impakt Records, the company's own record label. Initially conceived as an online-only label, CDs have also been available to buy since 2019 and a relaunch.

In 2019, the first workshop with amateurs on improvisation took place in cooperation with the Cologne Jazz House School.
