INSEL

The Wuppertal ADA is more than just a renowned and beautiful venue. It is an ISLAND.
As one of the largest cultural venues for the independent scene in Wuppertal, it has been of supraregional importance for music, dance theater, drama, performance and social engagement for over thirty years. Locally, it was long regarded as the "living room of the Pina Bausch ensemble". Since 2019, an association of people has been leading this tradition into the future responsibly and with new impetus by founding INSEL e.V. Curators conceive, organize and perform in the various disciplines and are brought together by an artistic management collective. Cultural work focuses in particular on interdisciplinary exchange, encounters between different cultures and the expansion of INSEL as a production house for the independent dance and theater scene. We have established our own venue above Café ADA, which is a convertible black box with a good 320^m2 of floor space and seating for up to 199 people. We also run our own bar, which is open for all events.
