Since its foundation in Frankfurt am Main in 1999, the Kinothek Asta Nielsen e.V. has been dedicated to the film work of women and queer cinema culture. As the only institution of its kind in the German-speaking world, the Kinothek researches, documents and communicates both historical and contemporary film history with a view to the politics and emancipative potential of gender relations in the international film industry.
