The Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) offers a challenging project study program that combines the practices, theories and reflections of the subject groups exMedia, Film and Television, Art, Art and Media Studies in a diploma program entitled "Media Arts". The KHM creates an experimental climate for independent, artistic work between and around the media. Since 2017, the KHM has also offered a Literary Writing major, which focuses on intensive work on the student's own texts.

The individual development of artistic projects is at the heart of the "Media Arts" degree course. These are supported by professors, artistic-scientific and technical staff across all teaching areas. Student work takes place primarily in the KHM's studios and laboratories, which are equipped with high-quality facilities geared towards the diversity of the teaching areas.
An international team of professors and staff teaches at the KHM, following a transdisciplinary approach. Continuous cooperation with universities in Germany and abroad, cultural institutions, festivals and exhibition organizers as well as the media and film industry paves the way for networks and activities in which students work in the broad field between art and media after graduation.

Public events such as film evenings, concerts, lectures in the KHM auditorium (Filzengraben 2, 50676 Cologne) and the program in the GLASMOOG exhibition space (Heumarkt 14, 50667 Cologne) place the current productions at the KHM in a Cologne, national and international context. Every year at the end of the summer semester, the KHM opens its doors to all interested parties with the tour.
