Curiosity, the joy of experimentation and an invitation to open exchange are at the heart of the Kunstmuseum Bochum's program. Situated on the edge of the city park and a stone's throw from Bochum's city center, the Kunstmuseum Bochum sees itself as a place with a workshop character, where many things are possible and many people are involved.

The character of the art museum is reflected in two interconnected buildings: in the spacious architecture, the museum invites visitors to experience modern and contemporary art - from exhibitions to performances - and to enter into an exchange with it in a homely and open atmosphere.

The focus of the diverse collection, which consists of more than 8,000 objects, is on a very broad spectrum of European art after 1945, such as Zofia Kulik, Andy Warhol, Louise Nevelson and Tadeusz Kantor, in addition to some highlights from the early 20th century. More recently, the collection has been enriched by an estate with a large group of Fluxus works.

Independently of an exhibition visit, the museum offers an open café, various event rooms, a small library and a roof terrace with a wide view of the city park, a meeting place for the people of the city.
