The Latin American Days Leipzig are a project of Sudaca e.V., which was founded in 2003. Sudaca e.V. aims to provide information about the political, economic and social situation in Latin America and bring the cultural diversity of this continent closer to the Leipzig public. We began with a series of lectures and cultural events. Since 2005, we have been regularly showing Latin American films in various Leipzig cinemas. Sudaca e.V. has been organizing the Latin American Days every year since 2010.

More than 30 current feature-length and short films in the original language with subtitles provide an insight into the current cinema landscape. These include award-winners from international festivals as well as smaller, brand-new productions. In workshops, lectures, film events and discussion panels with invited guests, topics such as same-sex marriage and adoption law in Latin America, the penal system and human rights or migration will be discussed.
