Liebertwolkwitzer Verein für lebendige Geschichte e.V.
In the page's words:
We research and teach about history and historical events. In addition, we organize cultural events, guided tours, exhibitions, commemorative events, and historic preservation efforts.
Once a year, elementary school children experience life around 1800 with us: at various stations, they make candles from beeswax, create their own scented soap, and spin thread from linen. In addition to these hands-on activities, our reenactors also share theoretical knowledge (e.g., how was food preserved without a refrigerator?).
We aim to share knowledge about historical crafts, regional history, and life in the past in a way that is as accessible as possible. To this end, we develop a variety of projects to ensure that as many people as possible can participate:
- On TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube , we post videos about historical monuments, the Wars of Liberation, and historical events in and around Leipzig.
- Guided tours of Liebertwolkwitz and the surrounding area shed light on various aspects of history as well as the region’s development.
- At the historical markets in Liebertwolkwitz, we participate with presentations, guided tours, and other activities for adults and children.
- In our library, we compile existing knowledge and make it available free of charge. We provide digitized local historical records online.
- Through our own publications on local history, crafts, and life in the past, we offer a unique perspective on these topics.
- We provide context for monuments in the region, give them greater visibility, and aim to erect some of our own.
