Who do we make literature for?

The cliché: educated citizens. Everyone else is not interested. We asked around: at the unemployment center, the food bank, Lebenshilfe, the seniors' council, the German courses at the VHS and many others. It quickly became clear that there was a need.

Together, we are organizing the "Literature for All" festival in Tübingen from 24 to 31 October. We are the Literatur-WG e.V. (formerly Querfeldein e.V.) and the Studio Literatur und Theater of the University of Tübingen. But we are also numerous cooperation partners whose visions and wishes have become the heart of the program. The attempt: a festival with something for EVERYONE.

For years, people have been discussing how to make literature more accessible. Our answer: to approach those who are otherwise not asked, to meet their wishes and needs and to organize readings where they feel comfortable.

We are not interested in shallow beach reads. We want to initiate discussions. We want to talk about precarity, care and language barriers with those who are affected by them. And, above all, to celebrate literature as a mediating and unifying element.
