The literary scene in the Ruhr is more diverse, creative and lively than almost any other. There are time-honored literary societies and municipal libraries as well as a huge poetry slam community and innovative reading stages, publishers, bookshops, literature houses, writing workshops, international festivals... and since 2018, a common home for all of them: literaturgebiet.ruhr.

We want to highlight the existing quality and diversity, make the region's literary activities visible and continue to work together across cities and genres.

The literaturgebiet.ruhr is a common advertising space for organizations and their events, but not only that. It is also a network that is active in terms of content and concept, that dares to try new things and unassumingly demands the attention that the local literary scene deserves.
