The 2025 / 2026 season of il Gusto Barocco

Ovid's Metamorphoses are among the earliest sources of inspiration in opera history - Monteverdi's Orfeo or Peri's Dafne are rooted directly in his myths. We are dedicating our new season to this wealth of transformations.

In our Stuttgart series, we will guide you through a variety of musical metamorphoses: from Bach's Musical Offering, in which a royal theme is transformed into the boldest contrapuntal structures, to Dafne - the earliest opera project of all. We interweave fragments by Jacopo Peri and Marco da Gagliano to create a new, concertante whole. This extraordinary project forms the core of our cooperation with the Stuttgart Baroque Festival. Euridice also gets a voice with us - in a concert that retells the Orpheus myth from her perspective.
