In 2011, the former cultural institution "Rockbüro Bochum" (1989 to 2000) was revived as a private initiative, but under the new and more comprehensive name "Musikbüro Bochum", which more clearly unites the most diverse music genres. Until then, in contrast to many other German cities (e.g. Herne, Göttingen, Hanover and of course Berlin), there was no central contact point or information portal for (pop and rock) musicians, event organizers, music enthusiasts, etc. in Bochum.

In recent years, the music office has made a name for itself in the scene through the implementation of various projects, local and regional collaborations and has established itself with regard to public institutions; we have received great encouragement and support from the various players. We have been a registered, non-profit association since 2013.

The Musikbüro is not only concerned with pointing out and debating gaps in Bochum's music scene, but also with actively working on and closing them with great commitment.
