The aim of the non-profit association open systems - founded in 2002 by Karl-Heinz Blomann - is the promotion, dissemination and scientific research of contemporary music and art. This is achieved in particular through the organization and implementation of festivals, concert series and symposia on contemporary music and art, primarily through regional cross-city cooperation, but also at a national and international level. The most important projects include the festivals "open systems" from 2002 to 2010 and "Blaues Rauschen" since 2017.
