PENG Festival

Our PENG Festival is meant to be more than a showcase of outstanding regional and international artists. When we founded our PENG collective, the original idea was to promote FLINTA*, who are still underrepresented in jazz despite the great strides made towards equality.

In the meantime, we see the discrimination of FLINTA* as an example. Whether patriarchal, racist, economic or other structures of domination: they restrict us all in our freedom and sabotage a social, a democratic future.

With the PENG Festival, we want to create a framework that is free from all structures of oppression, power and dominance.
For the musicians, organizers, helpers and the audience. A place where the values of respectful interaction are upheld, where communication and treatment are based on solidarity and equality.

In this setting, the music stands. For itself. It can be found good, exciting, boring, wild, loud, confusingly exhilarating. It doesn't really need any political thoughts. But the people who devote themselves to it.

And that is us. And that is you.
