The Hamburg Planetarium is one of nine large planetariums and the most visited star theater in Germany^[1].

The planetarium was built in 1930 in Hamburg's Stadtpark in a former water tower. Since then, it has been brought up to the latest state of the art several times; the last renovation took one and a half years until the reopening at the beginning of 2017.^[2] In the following twelve months, 380,000 visitors came to the 2361 events.^[1] The old water tower with the planetarium is considered one of the landmarks of the Hamburg-Nord district and the Winterhude district.
