The Berne school, a listed Fritz Schumacher legacy, is located in the Hamburg-Berne district. Following its closure in 2016, neighbors and the KuBiZ e.V. association(https://www.kubiz-schule-berne.de) decided not to abandon the site.
Since the end of 2023, fux eG has been the leaseholder of the school and plans to transform it into a cooperatively organized cultural and educational center. The school is in the interim use phase until refurbishment begins (expected at the beginning of 2026) and is operated by the Hausverein Projekt Schule Berne e. V.(https://www.projekt-schule-berne.de). Around 32 interim users are currently enlivening the site with content from the fields of "art and culture", "social affairs, education and the environment" and "health and exercise".
