Public Moves - Movement in the green

Welcome to Public Moves - Düsseldorf's first participatory dance festival!

On September 6 and 7, 2025, we will transform Düsseldorf's Hofgarten into a venue for contemporary dance. A place of encounter will be created in a public urban and natural space where art, nature and community can be experienced in a unique interplay. We base Public Moves on an expanded concept of art by opening up public space for the experience of contemporary performing arts.

You can expect dance performances by renowned artists and, of course, the opportunity to become part of the festival yourself in the free workshops!

The program:

• SA, 06.09. at 2 pm: Performance "Moving Spaces" by make a move collective: The performative actions move along a route through the park, alternating between elements of parkour and contemporary dance and provoking the (random) audience to open their perception of everyday places.

• SA, 06.09. from 15-16:30: Workshop make a move collective: This workshop encourages participants to use urban space as a platform for creative expression and creates an open, cooperative atmosphere. Regardless of age - children, teens or adults - the workshops offer an inspiring and enriching experience to discover urban space from a new perspective.

• SO, 07.09. at 2 pm and 5 pm: Performance Compagnie Giolisu: "Le contraire de Un" is a poetic act in urban space. The starting point is a public bench: a place of rest and a meeting point. Here it becomes a place of theatrical creation.

• SO, 07.09. from 15-16:30: Workshop Compagnie Giolisu: The focus of their artistic work has always been on encounters, personal development and the creation of a group that meets around a creative process in which everyone is involved.

• Around the clock: Experience the Hofgarten as a place of encounter and movement. The park, the café and the theater museum invite you to (re)discover new and familiar places.

All our offers are free of charge and accessible without prior registration. To guarantee you a place in one of the workshops, reserve a ticket via rausgegangen.de (see below under "Events"). If you wish, you can help support our festival by paying for the performances and workshops via a "pay-what-you-want" system.
