We stand for diversity, creativity and a strong sense of musical community. Our focus is on unusual and diverse programs with works by queer and contemporary composers.

Musical dual leadership and rehearsal work
Under the direction of Mary Ellen Kitchens and Alexander Strauch, our orchestra combines creative rehearsal work with high quality standards. Together we work on both well-known and lesser-known works from all eras.

Building bridges through music
Our aim is to overcome cultural and social boundaries. As part of the LGBT community, we invite people of all backgrounds to make music with us or enjoy our concerts.

Enriching cultural diversity
With our wide-ranging program from baroque music to contemporary genres, we contribute to the diversity of Munich's cultural life and create an audible and visible presence.

Our history
Inspired by the LGBT choir festival Various Voices 2018 in Munich, our orchestra was founded in 2015 to expand the queer music landscape. Since 2017, we have been a registered association under the name Rainbow Sound Orchestra Munich.

The joy of making music
In our monthly rehearsals, we create a lively and inspiring musical atmosphere. Under our dual leadership, we combine the joy of making music with the challenge of working on demanding works. The focus is not only on musical quality, but also on fun and community.
