For five days, the Hanseatic city will be all about contemporary classical music.

The opening concert will take place at the Theater am Leibnizplatz in Bremen. The world premiere and award ceremony of the winning project of the Köster Prize 2025 will take place at Schaulust. Other venues in Bremen for exciting concert formats, TalkTimes and workshops are Tor 40 at the freight depot, the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art Bremen and other central locations in the Hanseatic city.

An action and hands-on day for the whole family will take place on 1.6.25 on the grounds of the Bremen Goods Station - Area for Art and Culture.

Artists and ensembles from the host country Spain, from Bremen, Germany and other countries will present all facets of contemporary music:

What?

"realtime 2025 - international festival for new music bremen" is the name of the event on the Weser, where everything revolves around contemporary music. The "realtime-festival 2025" is organized by the association "realtime - forum neue musik" in cooperation with and with the support of the Instituto Cervantes Bremen and the Spanish Embassy in Berlin.

For five days, artists will perform at many attractive and renowned venues. It will be surprising, acoustic, visual, exciting and diverse. People of all ages will be introduced to unusual tones and sounds at concerts and performances, as well as at talks and musical fairy tales for children.

The "REALTIME 2025 - INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL FOR NEW MUSIC BREMEN" will feature exciting concerts of modern contemporary classical music at various venues in Bremen. The focus will be on performance concepts with new auditory and visual impulses, as well as "Reality - Illusion - Vision", which will be explored in terms of content, music and philosophy. Artists from the guest country Spain as well as from Germany and Bremen explore this motto and show moving realizations and variations.

The aim of this festival is to make people curious about the diversity of new music.

New music reflects current events in all political, social and private tendencies. The aim of this festival is for the audience to see itself reflected and understood in modern music.

Special concepts for children and young people as well as for adults or young adults offer numerous opportunities to approach New Music both intellectually and emotionally. The approach is fundamentally artistic and leaves plenty of scope for individual interpretations of what is heard and seen.

Extensive moderations and introductions contribute to the understanding of new music and also invite the audience to exchange ideas afterwards.

The festival takes place in the heart of Bremen and attracts young and old, people interested in new music and people who want to experience something new and creative.

In the cultural image of the city, contemporary music as a reflection of current events is given more weight as an important pillar of musical life.

Organizer:

The association "realtime - forum neue musik" was founded in 2012 and since then has been committed to making new music accessible to a wider audience.

New music is young and its presentation is diverse. It is brought to life in all its facets and manifestations through moderated discussion concerts, multimedia performances, workshops and exciting sound experiences.

Within the association, the youth ensemble for new music "Smusic21" was founded, which gives young people the opportunity to make music together and perform. In cooperation with the Bremen Music School and committed sponsors, lessons, rooms and instruments are provided free of charge.
