The association - and what it does
Since 2013, the Rock gegen Rechts Düsseldorf e.V. association has set itself the task of organizing a free festival in Düsseldorf's Volksgarten that is accessible to members of all social groups with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers. Every year, the open-air event combines a top-class concert program with a clear political stance and an unequivocal commitment to a tolerant, diverse and exclusion-free urban society. Families and people of all backgrounds - regardless of their social status, social origin or sexual identity - are welcome on the festival grounds and find a safe space there. Rock gegen Rechts Düsseldorf sees itself as a non-commercial event that is financed exclusively by funding, donations and proceeds from the sale of drinks and T-shirts. Rock gegen Rechts is part of the Düsseldorf stellt sich quer (DSSQ) alliance and has taken part in the "Kein Alt für Nazis" (No Alt for Nazis) beer mat campaign, which numerous Düsseldorf pubs and cultural institutions have joined since spring 2024. In 2024, Rock gegen Rechts Düsseldorf e.V. was awarded the SPD honorary office prize for its many years of commitment against the right and was nominated for the Helga!Festival Award of the Hamburg Reeperbahn Festival in the category "Most fearless attitude" in the same year.
