The site of the former Roman fort Haus Bürgel in Monheim am Rhein is now home to three organizations: the Roman Museum, which houses a permanent exhibition and finds from Roman times, the Biological Station of the city of Düsseldorf and the district of Mettmann and the Reuter family, who have been breeding cold-blooded horses at Haus Bürgel for generations.

Each year, the three partners put together a varied program of events including markets, lectures, excursions, vacation programs for children, covered wagon rides and creative workshops.
