RUHRORGEL—these are concerts along the Ruhr, from the Sauerland (where the Ruhr has its source) through the Ruhr region all the way to the Lower Rhine (right where the Ruhr flows into the Rhine).

As the name “Ruhrorgel” suggests, the church organ plays a prominent role here. It’s not uncommon for it to be played alongside other instruments, often resulting in exciting and unusual musical encounters. Sometimes there’s no organ at all. Curious?
