The Staatstheater Mainz is located in the center of the city - a location that the theater sees as its most important task, not only geographically but also in terms of content: being at the heart of society, part of the city, a central place for exchange and encounters - close to the people and the issues that move them.

With five venues, the theater offers stages of different sizes for a wide variety of formats. On Gutenbergplatz, the Great House (built 1829-1833) and the Glass House high under the roof are used. Next door on Tritonplatz is the Kleine Haus, built in 1997, and since 2014 the Studiobühne U17 deep underground. The Kakadu Bar has also been a new, smaller venue since 2021. In addition, the Staatstheater repeatedly performs in a wide variety of spaces in the city.

Musical theater, drama, tanzmainz, concerts and the Junge Staatstheater justmainz offer a diverse repertoire for all age groups.
