What happens when Munich's urban history meets vibrant music traditions from North Africa, West Africa and the Middle East?

To mark the 10th anniversary of JISR, "Traces of 'Moors'" is a festival that makes precisely this question audible and visible. For two days, the FAT CAT will be a place for concerts, dance, discussion and encounters - between ritual and club, past and present.

The starting point is Erasmus Grasser's morris dancers, who have been part of Munich's culture since the 15th century. They show: Exchange, migration and cultural overlap have long been part of this city's history. The festival picks up on this trail - and takes it further.

Gnawa rituals from Morocco, Arabic singing traditions, West African rhythms, jazz, hip-hop and historical dance come together on stage. International artists work together with local scenes - not as a folkloristic mixture, but as a genuine artistic confrontation.

In addition to the concerts, there will be an open supporting program with workshops, panel talks and film that will expand the view behind the stage.

"Traces of 'Moors'" is not a traditional festival - but a space in which history, identity and sound meet anew.
