WEHR51

WEHR51 implements its own social and socio-political concepts with a team of professional artists from various disciplines. It attaches great importance to long-term, non-hierarchical work and social sustainability. It experiments with new dramaturgical approaches that often lead to unusual locations and see the audience as an integral part of the production.

This creates spaces for dialog and encounters that reach a broad audience with complex acoustic and visual direction, 3D sound design, live cameras and large-scale video installations, as well as interventions in public spaces.
The aim is also to produce sustainably and to keep the plays in the repertoire for a long time.

WEHR51 has received several awards:
2024 Kurt Hackenberg Prize for Political Theater for the media walk LIQUID
2021 KunstSalon Theater Prize for FRACTURA - dance theater about ageing and injuries
2020 Cologne Theater Prize for IS - German robbers in jihad
