The Wilhelm-Hauff-Chorverband Stuttgart e.V. (WHCV) sees itself as an umbrella organization for Stuttgart choirs. It was founded in 1920 and its catchment area roughly covers the city of Stuttgart. At the beginning of 2026, the association had 56 member clubs with more than 4,750 active and supporting members. Of the 56 member clubs, 16 are clubs with children's and youth ensembles. A total of 136 ensembles (choirs and instrumental groups) are active in the member clubs. These include the well-known classical mixed vocal societies, women's and men's choirs, but also ambitious choral groups, pop choirs, a cappella ensembles, church children's and youth choirs as well as choirs and instrumental groups from school study groups. Members are elementary school, grammar schools, universities and colleges.

Of course, our members also include choirs whose members predominantly have a migration background. The size of the choirs varies from 4 to around 150 people. The work in the association is voluntary. The choir days are organized alongside everyday work. The WHCV is a link between the member associations and the higher-level organizations (e.g. Swabian Choral Association, City of Stuttgart, etc.). The WHCV advises the member associations and is responsible for forwarding subsidies and statistics. In addition, further training is offered, sometimes in cooperation with the SCV. Since 2010, the WHCV has been a cooperation partner for numerous kindergartens and kindergarten groups as part of the "Sing - Move - Speak (SBS)" language promotion program of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
