The Center for Remembrance Culture, Human Rights and Democracy (ZfE) is an educational institution of the City of Duisburg and focuses on coming to terms with and communicating Duisburg's Nazi past.

The communication of the local Nazi past is the focus of the ZfE's educational programs on democracy. In addition, the ZfE is developing the reappraisal of local migration history into a separate thematic pillar and deals with the colonial traces within Duisburg.

In terms of location and content, the ZfE is integrated into the Kultur- und Stadthistorisches Museum and the City Archive.
