CHORMÄLEON is the only choir of all dual universities
universities in Baden-Württemberg.
The musical ensemble was founded at the beginning of
1999 on the initiative of students.

Every Tuesday from 18:30 to 20:30, around 50 enthusiastic singers meet to
50 enthusiastic singers meet to rehearse together in the

choir rehearsal in the "Altes Feuerwehrhaus" of the
AWO meeting place in Stuttgart-Heslach on Erwin-Schoettle-Platz.
Erwin-Schoettle-Platz. Under the direction of choirmaster
Holger Frank Heimsch, the choir, which is made up of students
DHBW students, staff and alumni as well as dedicated singers from the entire
from the entire Stuttgart metropolitan region, performs choral pieces from the

pop, rock, musical, jazz, gospel and a cappella comedy.

In 2012, the current choirmaster Holger Frank Heimsch took over the choir with around 15 members. Today, the choir consists of around 80 choir members. Due to the dual study program, not everyone is always there. At concerts, around 30-50 choir members are on stage. The choir covers an age range of 18-72 years.

Each year, the choir performs at 4-7 events in the Stuttgart metropolitan region and one rehearsal weekend. There is also a project every year, such as a semi-staged production of a musical, a studio production or the creation of a video clip.

One of the highlights of recent years was participation in the 2016 German Choir Festival in Stuttgart. CHORMÄLEON gave two performances as part of the choir festival and took part in the international choir competition as part of the choir festival. The aim was to compete with other choirs from Germany and make new contacts. A musical flash mob in the Stuttgart streetcar and a documentary by SWR television crowned the choir's musical work, which can still be viewed today in video clips on the choir's YouTube channel.

In 2017/2018, CHORMÄLEON dedicated itself to the musical "Les Miserablés", which was semi-staged in its own version and presented at the concerts. In 2018, the choir opened the "Stuttgarter Chortage" with a concert and performed as the opening act for the a cappella band "Maybebop" in Stuttgart's Liederhalle.

In 2019, CHORMÄLEON celebrated its 20th anniversary. The anniversary repertoire was selected by the choir's friends and fans via online voting, which ran from October to December 2018. Especially for the anniversary, CHORMÄLEON combined the 11th to 20th places from the selected arrangements into a medley, which was arranged by Oliver Gies from MAYBEBOP.

CHORMÄLEON was still able to be very creative in the coronavirus year 2020. Firstly, there were around 20 virtual rehearsals, an open-air choir rehearsal as part of the SWR4 Baden-Württemberg choir rehearsal and an open-air concert with two other choirs on the Killesberg open-air stage. The highlight of 2020 was the CHORMÄLEON Advent calendar, which the choir members produced with virtual choirs, ensembles and solo contributions in a very short space of time, reaching thousands of people on social media. Due to the high demand and success, CHORMÄLEON produced further digital Advent calendars in 2021, 2022 and 2023 with numerous musical contributions from choirs, ensembles and soloists. Since then, the Advent calendar has repeatedly made it into the program of SWR 4 Baden Württemberg, the Landesschau on SWR television and RegioTV.

The biggest project in the choir's history was THE GREATEST SHOWMAN in 2022. The semi-centennial production in cooperation with the artists of CIRCUS CIRCULI in the circus tent with a 9-piece live band was a major organizational, financial and artistic challenge, but it paid off with three sold-out shows.

In 2023, a concert tour took CHORMÄLEON to Munich, where they performed a joint concert with MY LOVELY MR. SINGING CLUB was performed.

In 2024, the choir celebrated its 25th anniversary in style. To the anniversary page

2025 CHORMÄLEON took part in the German Choir Festival in Nuremberg at the end of May. In June 2025, CHORMÄLEON went on a concert tour to the Landes-Musik-Festival in Singen/Hohentwiel (Saturday, June 28) and to a concert in the Konzertsegel in Radolfzell (Sunday, June 29). There will also be several smaller and larger performances at the DHBW Stuttgart. On Sunday, November 30, CHORMÄLEON will present its annual concert in the Schiller Hall of the Liederhalle Stuttgart and will give its first concert in the courtyard of the Old Palace on Tuesday, December 2, as part of the Stuttgart Christmas market.
