Shortall, who played in the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and produced beats in his bedroom, brings both technical brilliance and emotional depth. Proud of his Glaswegian roots and Irish-Spanish heritage, he describes "Bad With Names" as a reflection on the loss of memory in the chaos of life. In the summer of 2023, he wowed audiences at festivals such as Glastonbury, Love Supreme and Barcelona's Jamboree Jazz Club, as well as a sold-out UK tour with performances at London Jazz Cafe and Glasgow QMU. corto.alto represents a bold, unconventional approach to jazz and is leading the Glasgow jazz scene into a new era.
