Emanuel Graf - Violoncellp

In the artist's words:

Emanuel Graf is a German-Swiss cellist and has the privilege of playing on the Stradivari cello "L'Évêque de La Rochelle" (1690).

His performances are celebrated for "fascinating technique, great sensitivity and a colorful, dynamically differentiated tonal language". The Thüringer Zeitung described his Prokofiev concerto as "simply brilliant", and Bachtrack highlighted his work with the Bavarian State Orchestra with "breathtaking virtuosity".

Graf has made guest appearances with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the BR Symphony Orchestra and at venues such as La Scala in Milan, Carnegie Hall and the Vienna Musikverein. He has worked with conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta, Herbert Blomstedt and Kirill Petrenko.

He completed his training with Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt; during his studies he became solo cellist at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen.

In addition to his concert activities, Graf founded the 3Klang cultural center near Freiburg together with his family of musicians and directs the international cello ensemble Cellifamily.
