Jazzchor der Uni Bonn

In the artist's words:

Founded in 1995, the Bonn University Jazz Choir can now look back on a quarter of a century of history. Back then, the choir still wore black and white performance attire, today it is in the university colors blue, grey and gold, but one thing has not changed:

The choir offers students of all disciplines and other music enthusiasts the opportunity to share the joy of singing and experiencing a wide variety of harmonies together. It is also about promoting individual musical talents and establishing contacts and friendships between the young jazz-loving singers. The exchange and realization of joint projects with other choirs and ensembles is therefore very important to us. We are supported in this by the University of Bonn's Forum Musik, of which we have been a member since 2016.

Our choirmaster Jan-Hendrik Herrmann, who has been the musical director of the choir since 2012, has shaped our sound and the shape of our rehearsals. Fortunately for us, he not only brings sensitivity, attention to detail and an excellent ear, but also his own arrangements for us time and again.

Contrary to our name, our repertoire is not limited to jazz pieces. We sing mostly a cappella from all musical genres, sometimes with instrumental accompaniment, whatever our hearts desire and we like - sometimes with even more lower voices and arranged by choir members or by the choirmaster himself.
