The association Junges Theater Köln e.V.

Our association is active in three interconnected spheres:

• we develop documentary theater performances with young people
• we organize the international theater festival NEUES EUROPA every two years
• we stage professional theater.

Our plays with young people are documentary, political, in the NOW! We systematically supplement the young people's everyday expertise with exciting encounters with contemporary witnesses of the Nazi era, with activists from political movements for the climate, for feminism or against anti-Semitism and racism. Our multimedia productions can now also be experienced online, hybrid and interactively.

In the field of professional theater, Svetlana Fourer stages documentary material that she and her ensemble cannot let go of. In co-creation with innovative theater makers from Russia and Ukraine, a trilingual production "The Child and the War" was created in 2017 and "The Future of Europe" with Ukrainian teenagers for the Sommerblutfestival in 2020 despite lockdown. Other plays such as "Deutschland Sandwich", "Geschwister Singer", "Durch Lila Nebel" and "Mein Onkel David" followed.

We are pleased to be supported in our work by Aktion Mensch, the City of Cologne, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, the Goethe Institute, the Rheinenergie-Stiftung Kultur, the Fonds Soziokultur, the Landesbüro Darstellende Künste and others and to be a member of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband.
