Kevin James

In the artist's words:

Kevin James Carroll was born in a small village called Lorne on the coast of the Australian state of Victoria.

Although he grew up in a family where music played no part and his talent was given little or no encouragement, Kevin's confidence and love of singing was there from an early age: He sang for his family at Christmas and was always chosen as the solo singer in school plays.

His first instrument was the harmonica, and it wasn't until his 21st birthday party that he discovered the guitar, when a stranger turned up and offered to play him a song as a birthday present. This experience sparked his vocation for music; within a year he was performing locally and invitations were coming in from the nearby city of Melbourne.

It all seemed to be going very well and he was toying with the idea of becoming a musician, but Kevin felt he had something else to offer with music. This feeling was so strong in him that he knew he had to find out what it was. So he left home with his guitar to follow his childhood dream of traveling the world. First he went to Asia, where he discovered the teachings of the East for the first time: Tibetan Buddhism, Dzogchen, Hinduism, chanting and yoga.
