Moritz Schöwing (born 2000 in Bremen) is a sought-after jazz pianist and composer who has been making a name for himself on the German jazz scene for several years. He received piano lessons from his father Jens Schöwing at an early age and discovered his passion for jazz and popular music. He has won several awards, including Jugend jazzt and the University Prize of the University of the Arts Bremen. He completed his bachelor's degree at the HfK Bremen with Elmar Brass, Malte Schiller and Ed Kröger, among others.
He then deepened his artistic training at the renowned Dr. Langner Jazzmaster at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama, where he worked with Florian Weber, Tino Derado and Buggy Braune. He placed a particular focus on composition there, working with Nikki Iles, Malte Schiller and Ruta Paidere.
Moritz Schöwing is an active part of the North German jazz scene and regularly plays in a wide variety of projects and formations. He is particularly in demand as a pianist in big bands and large ensembles.
He has already worked with artists such as Ken Norris, Romy Camerun, Ed Kröger and Frank Delle and has been part of ensembles such as the Jazzkombinat Hamburg, the Nordwest Bigband and the Birdland Bigband.
