In the artist's words:

Playback theater is interactive and goes like this:

1) People from the audience tell us stories from their lives.
2) We spontaneously play these stories back to them on stage - play back.

Through a mixture of acting, movement and music, unique performances are created. The audience gets new, unexpected perspectives on the stories and gets to talk more deeply after the performance.
Incidentally, the roots of playback theater lie in the USA. It was there that Jonathan Fox developed this special form of theater in the 1970s.

Playbacktheater Leipzig has been a cross-generational, international ensemble since 2012.

Our interdisciplinary team is made up of educators, academics, therapists and people with business expertise, among others. The head of the ensemble, Matthias Schluttig, moderates the performances as an experienced supervisor, coach, director and dramaturge.

What unites us all is our love of true stories and drama.
