The "Schalmeienorchester Köpenick" has its origins in the "Schalmeienexpress Berlin". This in turn was formed in 1990 from the shawm band of SV Dynamo Hohenschönhausen (traditional Ernst Thälmann shawm orchestra). Our history therefore goes back to 1959. Since February 2010, the "Blasmusikfreunde Köpenick e.V." has been the new sponsoring association of the "Schalmeienorchester Köpenick".
The main objectives are to cultivate and publicize shawm music and to make it even more attractive. In addition to successes in competitions, including the Berlin State Music Competition 2003, in which the orchestra received a "very good" rating, in May 2003 it performed the world premiere of the music theater composition "HÖROHR" for singer, shawm orchestra and factory sirens in the Staatsbank Berlin.
