The pioneer of Italian BaRock: Sergio Gelsomino—a multi-instrumentalist and maestro who touches people’s hearts.

Sergio Gelsomino is a unique musician who blends the worlds of classical music and rock in his own distinctive way. As a musically versatile talent, he breaks through clichés and sets new standards. Born in Caltanissetta, Sicily, his musical career began at the age of eight when he discovered the flute. 

After graduating from the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory in Sicily, Sergio continued his journey in the music world, expanding his skills both as a classical flutist and as a singer-songwriter. His musical style, which he himself describes as “Italian BaRock,” is shaped by influences from rock legends like Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, as well as the sophistication of classical composers such as Handel, and Italian music by artists like Francesco De Gregori and Lucio Dalla.

His 2022 debut EP, “Fiore di nuvola,” garnered significant international attention and was featured on Spotify playlists in over 90 countries. The title track “Fiore di nuvola” garnered more than 5,000 YouTube views, while “Occhi da bambina” appeared on Italian radio charts and remained in the Top 10 of emerging artists for several weeks. This single received widespread recognition and was featured in approximately 80 magazines and specialized platforms such as MEI, AIRPLAY, and EARONE. The song was played on around 100 FM radio stations, including RADIO ITALIA, as well as on over 150 digital and satellite TV channels and even at Verona Airport. In total, Sergio’s works have already reached more than 70,000 streams on major platforms and can be found on over 300 playlists.

This was followed by another album in 2023, as well as a performance at the Italian Consulate in Dortmund at the invitation of Consul Dr. Alfredo Casciello. At the Konzerthaus Dortmund, he conducted the overture to Verdi’s *Nabucco* and performed as a soloist on the flute at the Opernvorplatz Dortmund as part of the *We DO Opera! – Offstage* event. Another special moment was his performance at the UEFA24 Fan Zone on Friedensplatz in Dortmund, where he performed his Italian songs in front of 6,500 people.

Whether as a flutist on major stages or as a passionate rock musician with a guitar in hand, Sergio Gelsomino bridges two worlds through his music, deeply moving his audience in the process. For Sergio, music is more than just sound—it is a friend and confidant who has helped him through difficult times. This close relationship with music is reflected in all his works. With every note he plays, Sergio demonstrates that, for him, music is a universal language that moves hearts and transcends boundaries.
