A journey back in time to what is perhaps the wildest music of the late 1930s and 1940s. The Swing Lyons aren’t just guitar solos à la Django Reinhardt—they’re a full-fledged swing band featuring vocals, bass, saxophone, violin, and driving gypsy guitars. Whether they’re playing the music of Django Reinhardt, hot jazz, big band classics, or the blues—it’s the unmistakable freshness and wildness of this music that immediately gets your feet moving and makes you want to dance. By the way, “Lyons” is a play on the English word “lions” and the French city of Lyon, the hometown of two of the ensemble’s guitarists. The two musicians from France have settled along the Isar River in Munich and have teamed up with musicians from Munich’s Gypsy scene. The result is a rousing German-French Gypsy swing collaboration that thrills audiences with its energy, zest for life, and unmistakable groove. The band finds its audience primarily in the swing and Lindy Hop dance scene, as their musical style is perfectly suited for dancing right along.
