Takuma Ishii (born in Japan in 1989) is one of the most versatile Japanese pianists of his generation.
He gained international attention in 2016 by winning second prize at the prestigious Georges Enescu International Competition in Bucharest—the first Japanese winner in the history of this long-standing competition.

As a soloist, he has performed with numerous renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and other leading orchestras in Japan. In 2025, he performed with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonie. That same year, a joint tour of Japan with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra took him to numerous cities and delighted some 20,000 concertgoers.

His concert tours in Japan regularly attract an exceptionally high level of interest; many concerts sell out shortly after tickets go on sale.

Takuma Ishii is also a successful recording artist. His albums have reached the top of the Japanese classical charts. In 2025, he also made his major-label debut with Sony Music with a live recording of Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto together with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.

In addition, his YouTube channel “TAKU-ON TV” has over 340,000 subscribers and more than 150 million views. With his musical expressiveness and authentic style, he captivates both young audiences and longtime lovers of classical music.
