TAO-Chor Düsseldorf e.V.

The TAO Choir Düsseldorf was founded in 1991 by a small group - in a rehearsal room above the former TAO bookshop. This gave the choir its unusual name.
We are now a large mixed choir. With around 80 active singers, aged between 25 and 78.

Our repertoire includes choral music from musical eras ranging from the Renaissance to the choral literature of the 20th century.
We sing a capella, but also enjoy singing with smaller or larger ensembles and large choral works with symphony orchestras and soloists.

As broad and lively as our repertoire is and as mixed as our musical and professional backgrounds are, our community is also lively, warm and varied.
We are a registered association and a member of the Düsseldorf Choir Association, but have no ideological or other affiliations. We finance ourselves, the choirmaster, the sheet music, our concerts, project-related vocal training and our rehearsal rooms through membership fees, donations from individual sponsors and project-related support from various institutions such as the Choir Association and the Cultural Office of the City of Düsseldorf.
